Summer is almost approaching, and it’s time to start thinking about summer vacation plans. If you want to save money, we have just the location for you.

We dug through our data to uncover the top places where flight rates are lower than last year, implying that this summer is the ideal time to visit them for less.

Continue reading to find out where you might get a good deal this summer.

Anchorage, Alaska

If Alaska is on your bucket list, this summer could be the perfect time to visit. Flights to Anchorage were expensive last summer, but with the arrival of new low-cost airline lines,  the rates have dropped compared to past years. Summers in Alaska are pleasant and dry, with temperatures reaching the low 60s. Take a day cruise from Seward to see glaciers, hire a bike and ride the picturesque 11-mile Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, and then dig into some local cuisine, including fresh seafood like king crab and salmon. There are also about a dozen breweries in the city.

Barcelona, Spain

The Museu Picasso, strolling Las Ramblas, going through Gaudi’s Park Guell, and enjoying Spanish wines and tasty tapas are all perennially popular hobbies in Barcelona. Visitors may now travel from Barcelona Airport to the city quickly and affordably thanks to the recently opened L9 metro line. This year, Barcelona welcomes numerous new attractions, including the Ferrari Park and the reopening of Sant Pau’s freshly restored Sant Salvador hall. Barcelona is also hosting the 10th annual Circuit Festival, the world’s largest LGBTQA festival.

Boracay Island, Philippines

Boracay is a tiny island in the Philippines known for its many resorts, nightlife, and other attractions. It’s gained a lot of popularity in recent years, and more tourists are becoming aware of it.

Boracay has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, its pure blue waters are a sight to behold, and the island’s main beach strip is a good time at all hours of the day and night.

The island is small enough to feel secluded yet large enough to keep you entertained. There are numerous activities available here, ranging from snorkelling to island hopping and much more!

If you haven’t been to the Philippines, I recommend you travel and make a stop at Boracay to enjoy some much-needed summer holiday leisure. Afterward, in Palawan, pay a visit to the legendary El-Nido.

Not only is Boracay one of the most affordable summer holiday destinations, but the Philippines across all seasons is one of the most affordable countries to visit all year.

Lima, Peru

The capital of Peru and the closest major city to the famous Machu Picchu. Lima, Peru, is a Pacific-coast city with outstanding architecture, delicious gastronomy, and stunning ocean vistas.

The city offers many ecosystems and interesting historical landmarks. From steep mountain ranges to one of the world’s largest deserts and beaches. If you visit Lima, you must include Machu Picchu and Huacachina in your itinerary.

While Lima may not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking of a vacation location, visiting Lima is more of an experience, but as previously noted, the city still has its fair number of beaches just minutes away from the city centre! Peru is one of the cheapest places to travel throughout the year.

Crete, Greece

Every year in the summer, Crete, Greece’s largest island, attracts tourists from all over the world.

As compared to the other renowned Greek locations, Mykonos and Santorini, the island is a fraction of the price.

Because of the island’s size, there are several activities to do in Crete, such as seeing mountain summits, trekking to waterfalls, wine/olive oil excursions, and driving down the coast to different regions. There is never a lack of things to do in Crete.

You can always extend your experiences after your time in Crete by visiting one of Greece’s numerous other islands! – Milos, Rhodes, Zakynthos, and Corfu are a few Greek islands you should consider visiting.

Moab, Utah

Moab, Utah, is remarkable in that it is surrounded by two national parks. Arches National Park (to the north) is home to precarious-looking sandstone formations such as the iconic Delicate Arch. Meanwhile, Canyonlands National Park (southwest of town) provides breathtaking vistas of Utah’s vast desert landscapes. Travelers will discover a variety of economical lodgings in and around Moab, ranging from campgrounds to motels to vacation rentals. All of this adds up to make Moab an affordable trip for nature enthusiasts.

Phuket, Thailand

Phuket, located in southern Thailand, is well-known for its beaches, cuisine, old town area, elephant sanctuaries, and other attractions. In Phuket, there is never a shortage of things to do.

Because of its size, the island is well-developed, with numerous resorts, hotels, and restaurants located in a variety of neighbourhoods.

You may take excursions to the islands that encircle Phuket, the most famous of which are the Phi Phi Islands. There’s also Ko Lon, Coconut Isle, and a slew of others.

And after you’ve seen Phuket, I highly recommend going to Railay Beach in Thailand’s lovely Krabi area!

While it is off-season in Phuket during the summer, hotels and airfares are the most affordable, making Phuket one of the most affordable summer vacation destinations!

Colorado Springs, Colorado

Colorado Springs, Colorado, provides numerous options to enjoy stunning landscapes and reasonably priced attractions. The city has a plethora of free activities, such as riding through the Garden of the Gods, hiking to the summit of Pikes Peak, and meandering up and down the streets of Old Colorado City. Manitou Springs, which is nearby, is also an excellent destination for those wishing to rest in therapeutic waters. While summer is peak tourist season, lodging options remain reasonably priced, with a wide range of low-cost hotels and motels to select from.

Lagos, Portugal

Lagos, Portugal’s most famous town, is a small town in the south of the country popular for its beaches, cliffs, food, spectacular architecture, and lengthy history.

The cobblestone alleyways of the old town, the famed Benagil caverns, excellent wine tastings, and a number of beaches along the coast.

Lagos has everything you’d want in a luxurious vacation resort, but at a fraction of the price of neighbouring Spain, which includes towns like Ibiza, Marbella, and others.

Lagos is an excellent choice for a European summer vacation. Despite my brief visit, I had a fantastic time in Lagos and the Algarve region of Portugal, and I cannot wait to return!

Nashville, Tennesse

Summer airline fares to Nashville will be welcome news if they are lower. But that’s simply one of the reasons you should visit Music City. Summer brings with it some of the city’s most important outdoor festivals. From a country music festival with a slew of major names to the area’s famed yearly music and arts festival, there’s something for everyone. Did we forget to mention the food? The city is known for its barbeque, so there are plenty of places to indulge.
